2theBeat

2theBeat is a genre-fluid DJ duo playing a mix of funk, reggae, dub, old school hip hop, acid techno, trip hop, 80s, 90s, classic dance and whatever else makes you say “I haven’t heard that for a while.”

Brian2theBeat aka Bobby Thrust cut his teeth cutting rugs in the Flatlands of Saskatoon before joining the legendary Plastic Puppet Motive to throw some of the most loved parties of the late 90s. In the early 2000’s he encountered 2theMony, and they opened up 2 the Beat Records in downtown Toronto specializing in dance music. The record store proved to be a hub of the underground music scene and promoted, sponsored and organized several events.

From there, people started asking Brian to play music at a time when more vinyl selectors were showing up on the scene. Since 2007, Brian has played in several cities in Canada, Playa Del Carmen, London (the real one) and Cheddar. In 2020, he started streaming on Twitch, and not long after, 2theMony rediscovered her love of playing vinyl, and joined-in playing back 2 back with Brian.

In 2021, 2theMony started spinning solo sets, and has been invited to play on several international raid trains including chiX in the miX and Raiders of the Lost Art, as well as live sets with the EastSide Edits crew. You can catch Brian2theBeat and 2theMony playing live gigs together in Toronto, and as regular guest Dj’s on the P6Live Twitch channel. 2theBeat has been part of the Global Funk Fam for over 4 years, and they continuously enjoy collaborating with music lovers all across the Globe.
